Large format commentary
Oban coins were special coins minted for rewards to vassals and gifts to the imperial court and court nobles. The coins were minted during the Tensho era by Toyotomi Hideyoshi, who ordered the Goto family, the official metal engravers of the Muromachi shogunate, to make them. is the first.
Hideyoshi's oban is called Tensho oban, and the gold plate on the front side is decorated with hammer marks, paulownia goku-in is stamped on the top, bottom, left and right edges, and in the center is written in black ink, such as ``Shiro Goto (Kao)''. Masu.
The reverse side has a paulownia gokuin stamp in the center and a hanaoshi gokuin stamp at the bottom, but some have gold inlays.
The weight is set at 10 ryo (44 匆 = 165 g), and with the exception of Manen Oban, the weight of Ōban is always 10 ryo. Therefore, the Ōban shūryo is not a unit of gold coins, but a measure of weight. When exchanging large coins for small coins, etc. It is said that the number of coins was around 7 ryo during the Keicho period, and over 20 ryo at the end of the Edo period. One round in the Sho Tensho and Keicho eras weighed approximately 3.73g instead of 3.75g, so most of the Tensho and Keicho oban were about 1g lighter than the Kyoho oban, etc.
This large-format style was inherited by Tokugawa Ieyasu, and the Edo shogunate commissioned Goto Soke to exclusively produce the castings. The Goto branch family that minted regular gold coins such as Koban and Ichibun Kin was called Kinza Goto, while the Goto head family was called Obanza Goto. The Edo Shogunate's large formats, starting with the Keicho large format, usually have three small stamps on the lower left side of the back, but the format changes depending on the era. Moreover, even if we look at large formats from the same period, we can find some that can be further classified, such as in different hanashi ink calligraphy.
The evaluation of the condition of large format coins is first determined by the condition of the ink writing, and those with the ink writing intact at the time of casting are called ``gengaki'' and are the most prized. Next, some of the original manuscripts have some ink ink removed or scratches, and then there are the ``fixed manuscripts'' that were taken to the Obanza in later generations and rewritten for a fee, and those that were written by people other than the Goto family. There are ``afterwords'' and ``additions'' written in an unnatural manner by a third party, and the evaluation will gradually decrease. In addition, some Tensho large formats have ink writing dated to the Tensho period written on their surfaces, but this was written by Goto at the time of casting. The ink calligraphy on the back of Tensho and Keicho large format coins is written by the owner himself, a money changer, and represents the history of the large format format.
Please note that the reputation of this catalog is based on the ``original writing'', and the evaluation of large format works with ``afterwords'' and ``additions'' will be significantly lowered.

Conventionally, the classification of Mannobu and Meiji has been based on ``Tomebun,'' which has a large number of existing ``Tomebun,'' and ``Hanebun,'' which has a small number, as ``Manen.'' However, the production period for Meiji Nibunkin was 10 months and the number of coins minted was 3.8 million ryo, while Mannobu's production period was approximately 10 years and 50 million ryo were minted. Also, since the ``exemplary gold'' (standard gold for quality) of the Nibunkin signed in the Anseifu era is ``Tomebun'', there is a theory that ``Tomebun'' is Manen and ``Hanebun'' is Meiji.

The Kunan Kagami was published in 1898, but its production was discontinued 16 years later in 1988 due to the rise of silver. Production resumed 12 years later in Kansei 12. The early model has smooth sides, while the latter model is a little smaller and has sand marks on the side. Because it was manufactured over a long period of time, there are many changes, and there are still various theories regarding the detailed chronological classification. Here, we have listed the representative types, the early Meiwa type and the late Kansei type, which are easy to classify, and have listed the others as intermediate types for reference. There are various types of intermediate types.
In addition, the large size in the table below refers to one that is large and the round star on the edge is fully visible on both sides.

Note: There are two types: large and small.
Ansei Nishu Gin was manufactured in preparation for the opening of the Shimoda port in 1986 in order to improve the exchange ratio of trade currencies. The idea was to reduce the weight of Western silver to half that of Western silver, and to exchange one piece of German silver for two pieces of Ansei Nishu silver, in other words, to reduce the value of one piece of German silver to one minute (four pieces of Vermilion). The United States strongly objected to this, and Ansei Nishu Bank disappeared after being in use for only 22 days.
Aratame Sambusadagin is a Mexican 8 real silver coin with the mark ``Kai Sanbusadagin'' engraved on it, and is a symbol of Japanese gold and silver, which began to flow out as trade became more active. In order to protect the Japanese currency, the exchange of Western silver and 1 minute silver was suspended, and Western silver itself was allowed to be accepted domestically. At that time, the U.S. side insisted on the exchange rate of 1 piece of German silver and 3 pieces of 1 minute silver (3 minutes), and decided to stamp the ``Kai Sanbu'' so that Western silver would be accepted as 3 minutes domestically. I made a recommendation. Accordingly, the ``Kaisan Bunsei Gin'' was born, but since it was only valid in Japan for about 2 minutes and 2 vermilions, the sealing was discontinued after about six months.

Classification of Ichishu silver
According to the Tokugawa shogunate's currency system, Isshu silver was issued during the Bunsei (Minamikyo), Kaei, and Meiji periods.
In recent years, various researchers have researched the fonts on the front and back of Ki-ni Kaei Ichishu Gin, and the fonts on the front and back sides have been sorted by lineage, and they have been classified into two types: Kaei Ichishu Gin and Ansei Ichishu Gin.
Now, the combinations of front and back sides are determined by the same alphabetic symbols as Ichibu-gin, making a total of 132 types: Kaei Ichishu-gin (33 types, confirmed), Ansei Ichishu-gin (63 types confirmed), and Meiji Ichishu-gin (36 types confirmed). I tried to classify it. Although there is a good chance that new species will be discovered in the future, we will continue to revise this list gradually.
How to read the table
- For convenience, the symbols are shown in alphabetical order from Kaei to Meiji, with uppercase letters on the front and lowercase letters on the back〇
(Note) This has nothing to do with Ichibu Gin's reverse cherry blossom classification.
2. The combination of front and back fonts has been omitted to make it easier to remember.
An example (front) first fat man silver (silver) right short column za first fat third right short
Third, the ranking is an indicator of rarity, and we also take into account the opinions of traditional collecting circles and the opinions of recent collectors.
(1st place for the least common item to 10th place for the most common item)
4. The evaluation took into consideration rarity, marketability, and collector popularity.
5. The existence of combinations not listed in this table has not been confirmed.

(8) Chogin/Mameitagin
There were two types of coins in the Edo period: fixed-grade coins, which had a fixed grade and displayed the value on the face of the coin, and weighed coins, which had a fixed grade of silver and were weighed each time a transaction was made.
The weighing coin was Chogin, and until the Keicho era, fractions were used by cutting Chogin. In the Genna period, small-weight silver coins called Doban Gin began to be collected to make it easier to calculate fractions.
09 58 (Ko-45) = Ko-Chogin silver
Explanation: In addition to the illustrations, there are other types of old Chogin, such as official silver, Yamaguchi Tenmata Chogin, Happuku Chogin, and Kikuichimonji Chogin.

Supplementary explanation of Chogin/Mamebangin
1. The price of Chogin/Mamebangin varies depending on the size, shape, and clarity of the pole seal.
The standard type of Chogin weighs approximately 140g to 160g (Kyoho's nog to 130g), and large Chogin weighs over 200g (Kyoho's weighs over 160g), and some of them are more expensive than their respective prices. The standard size of Douban Gin is 5g to 7g, and anything over 15g is large. In the Keicho period, there are some that are so large that it is difficult to decide whether they are Cho-gin or Mameban-gin, as well as modified Mameban-gin that is made of blown-out silver with a gokoku stamp.
2.Russian silver shall be 1g or less of silver.
3. Daikoku's date stamp on the silver plate is stamped on Daikoku's abdomen. The standard for front and back is that the front side has a Daikoku on it, and if there is no Daikoku on it, the side with the larger area is considered the front side.
4. If 70% or more of the Daikoku images can be identified in a single-sided print, it will be evaluated as a ``single-sided Daikoku''; otherwise, it will be evaluated as an ``ordinary product.''
The evaluation of Gunuchi (Gungen, Gunpo, Gunbun, Gunpo, Gunsei) is that of Daikoku.
6. Figures below the decimal point have been rounded down.

Nara, Heian Period
There are significant differences in the number of Imperial coins remaining and their popularity depending on the type of coin. Since it was not possible to estimate the remaining number of Temawari coins and their prices using the previous method of classification, this year we have made it easier for users by noting the ranking and price of the main Temawari coins. Ta.
The 12 types of coins minted over a period of 250 years, from Wado Kaiju, first minted in the first year of Wado (708) to Inuigen Taiho, first minted in Tentoku 2 (958), are called Kochosen. The first coin was Wado Kaiji, but Wado Kaiko was further divided into two due to differences in materials, production methods, fonts, etc. Those that are made of brittle materials, poorly made, and have an old-fashioned typeface are called Kowado Kaiya. There are silver coins and copper coins in this Kowa Do Kaiku coin. On the other hand, fonts that are made of hard material, well made, and have a uniform typeface are called Shinwadokaiko. When we talk about Wado Kaiban, we usually refer to the Shin Wado Kaikon. Shinwado Kaiya is available only in copper coins.
The construction of imperial coins changed greatly depending on the political and economic background.
The government at the time, aiming to establish a modern Ritsuryo state, imitated the monetary policy of the neighboring Tang Dynasty, with the issuance of coins as part of its modernization policy. However, at that time, Japan's economy had not yet developed to the point where it needed money, so the government took various measures to promote the circulation of money, such as the ``Coin Enthusiasm Ordinance.''
Once coins began to circulate, private coinage became rampant, and the government, which had difficulty countering this, countered by issuing new coinage, or Mannentsuho. This Mannen Tsuho is somewhat larger than the Wado Kairin, but since it gives new coins IO times the value of old coins, it is thought that the intention was to profit from the reminting. In other words, by collecting old coins, reminting them, and issuing new coins with io times the value, the government would receive huge profits. The issuance of new coins aimed at profit from reminting was repeated many times after that, and the new coins that were issued gradually became smaller and lighter than the old coins. In addition, as the raw material copper ran out and we had to rely on the collection of old coins, the proportion of lead gradually increased, and even lead coins appeared in Engi-Tsuho and Inuigen-Taiho.
This kind of issuance of new coins aimed at profits from reminting led to inflation, and the common people's trust in money was greatly diminished. Also, with the development of the manor system, we eventually returned to the original era when rice and silk were the medium of exchange, and the government did not mint coins for a long period of 700 years after Inuimoto Taiho. There was no.
Eventually, in the 11th century, as trade with the sects became more active, sect coins began to flow into our country. High-quality and exquisite Sosen received support from the common people, and the monetary economy returned with a large influx of money.

Main changes in imperial coins
We respect the classification names that have been handed down from ancient times and use the most standard types among the types.
Imperial coins have been minted for over 1,000 years, and since they have been kept in various conditions, there are extreme differences in the condition of the coins, and there is a significant difference in price.

Price and ranking are not accurately linked. Even if there are a large number of imperial coins in existence, popular items will be sold at high prices, and conversely, even if there are only a few in existence, if they are not popular, their prices will not rise.

Momoyama Period
It is said that the gold and silver coins of the Yama period were coins minted by Taiko Hideyoshi as rewards when he dispatched troops to Korea, Kyushu, Odawara, etc. The types include Tensho Tsuho, Eiraku Tsuho, and a wide variety of silver coins, which testify to the prosperity of the time.
Along with Bunroku Tsuho, it imitates Tang coins and Song coins.

Nagasaki Trade Money
Ukisaki trade coins are coins that were used exclusively for trade settlements without using the characters ``Kanei'' on the coins because there was a strong demand for copper coins for trade settlements when ships from countries such as the Netherlands and China came to sea at the time. These coins were minted with the permission of the Shogunate under certain conditions.

Note Recently, many thin and small coins of different materials have been seen among Nagasaki-sen, Kan'ei-sen, Torai-sen, etc., but these are called Nanpo-te (tentative name) and were made much earlier than the original coins. This coin is thought to have been made after the 2000s, and is not applicable to the evaluation in this catalog.
Kanei-Tsuhd
Kan'ei coins are said to have been created by Shinsuke Sato, a resident of Mito, in 1626. After that, for over 240 years until the first year of the Meiji era, coins were minted at coin counters all over the country and were popular as coins for the common people. Initially, the year name was written on the coins, but later the Tokugawa shogunate used the four characters ``Kanei Tsuho'' as the name of the coins, regardless of the year name. In other words, the coins of the Tokugawa period were made under the name of Kan'ei Tsuho, in addition to Hoei Tsuho, Tenpo Tsuho, and Bunkyu Eiho. Today, in the world of ancient coins, Kan'ei coins are roughly divided into old Kan'ei and new Kan'ei.As they were minted over a long period of time, there are hundreds of types.
Ko-Kaneisen
Mi-Kanei is a general term for Kan'ei coins that were minted in various parts of Japan between 1626 and 1668, including Shiba, Asakusa, Sakamoto, Mito, Sendai, etc. There are coins from Yoshida, Matsumoto, Takada, Okayama, Hagi, Takeda, Kenninji, Kutsuya, Torigoe, etc., and the following are representative ones.

It began in 1668 when coins were minted in Kameido Village, Edo under the direct control of the Shogunate. The coins with a wave pattern on the back were used as Shimon coins, and the other coins were used as Ichimon coins, and were minted in copper and iron. These coins were popular as common people's money for 200 years until 1869, and were made and used all over Japan. Below are the typical types.

Tenpo-Tsuho
"It was passed down along with heaven and earth without changing the sun or the moon. Although its value declined, by the Meiji period,
Hotsuho coins were first minted at Kinza Banba Karifusho in 1835, and were determined to be valid for 100 letters. At that time, since the coins were oval in shape, they were considered the second currency after gold and silver.
It was highly praised as J. After that, due to successive thefts,
It passed. Below are some representative examples.

Ancient coins
It is said that the beginning of Oriental money was shell coins. When the Chi] manufacturing method was introduced to China from the ancient Orient via the Silk Road, many of them helped the progress of civilization as agricultural tools and tools.
Due to the iron manufacturing method introduced in Japan, many of the agricultural tools were made from iron instead of copper, and copper products were used as a substitute for coins, which became the currency we use today after being transformed and reduced in size. It is said that Japan's currency was also modeled after China's currency.

Toraisen !mported Coins
Imported coins are thought to have originated with envoys to Tang Dynasty and Sui Dynasty who brought them back from China, and most of them were imported by the shogunate or private trade from the end of the Taira era to the Kamakura and Muromachi periods. Imperial coins were widely used as Japan's currency for a long time after the suspension of coins until the ban on the use of imported coins in 1670. Among them, there are many coins from the Tang, Northern Song, Southern Song, and Ming dynasties.

imported coins
In the 10th year of the Kanbun era, the use of Torai-sen was prohibited by the Edo shogunate, but it was generally used in the 100-mon holder of Kan'ei-sen. In addition, new Chinese coins were also imported from trading areas such as Nagasaki, mixed in with payments, and used as part of the currency.
When the Meiji government established the new currency system, it allowed some foreign and imported coins to be used as 1 rin, so they continued to be used as tax payments until they were abolished in the early Showa era.
