The collectible gold coin of Austria with a face value of 50 euro "Christian Religious Orders" was issued on March 13, 2002 and continues the series "2000 Years of Christianity" (the two previous coins from this series came out in 2000 and 2001 with a face value of 500 shillings). Minted in the Austrian mint with a circulation of 50,000 units.
The obverse of the golden coin of Austria depicts St. Benedict and his sister St. Scholastic. Above the image are the inscriptions "BENEDICTUS" and "SCHOLASTICA" as well as the year of issue of the coin "2002." On the outer ring is the name of the state "REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH" and the face value "50 EURO."
The reverse of the coin depicts a monk working on a manuscript.
