   On March 12, 2003, the Austrian mint issued a collectible gold coin with a face value of 50 euro "Mercy" which completes the series "2000 Years of Christianity." The coin was minted with a circulation of 50,000 units.

   The obverse of the golden coin of Austria depicts a nun caring for a patient. The year of issue "2003" is indicated on the right side of the coin, and the country name "REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH" and the denomination "50 EURO" are inscribed on the circumference.

   The reverse of the coin depicts a parable of a good Samaritan. On the right there is a semicircle inscription "BARMHERZIGER SAMARITER" ("MERCIFUL SAMARITAN").
