The euro is the official currency of Latvia since January 1, 2014, replacing the Latvian Lats. Coins with a face value of 1, 2 and 5 euro cents depict the Small Coat of Arms of the Republic of Latvia. On coins of 10, 20 and 50 Euro cents - the Great Coat of Arms of the Republic of Latvia. Latvian coins of 1 and 2 euro depict a portrait of a girl in a national costume. Also, on the edge of a Latvian coin in denominations of 2 euro, a line from the national anthem of the country is inscribed - "Dievs, svætī Latvian" ("God bless Latvia").
Every year Latvia issues commemorative coins with a face value of 2 euro. By 2020, 11 commemorative coins were issued, including one of the series "30 Years of the Flag of Europe."
In addition, at the beginning of 2020, Latvia issued 35 collectible coins, 3 of which were gold and 32 silver.
